Curriculum
All of our actions in school are informed by our guiding principles that form the ‘Pennoweth DNA’.
Our curriculum is no exception to this and is planned and delivered within the framework created by the guiding principles. We firmly believe that to be in the best place to progress, children need to feel safe, loved and able to take responsibility for their own learning. We also know that vocabulary is the key to unlocking communication and work to ensure that children know the importance and power of their words.

For the year 2026-27, year 1 and 2 will follow a single year group curriculum, allowing them to become familiar with each subject discretely. Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 are following our mixed age group rolling programmes (currently cycle B). Our curriculum is inspired by books, opportunities and people, with clear experiences for children mapped out throughout the year. For KS2, children are given the opportunity to make links between subjects through themes, books, sticky bits and our thinking threads.
