Curriculum
All of our actions in school are informed by our guiding principles that form the ‘Pennoweth DNA’.
Our curriculum is no exception to this and is planned and delivered within the framework created by the guiding principles. We firmly believe that to be in the best place to progress, children need to feel safe, loved and able to take responsibility for their own learning. We also know that vocabulary is the key to unlocking communication and work to ensure that children know the importance and power of their words.
For more information, please see our subject curriculum pages.
For the year 2024-25, all year groups up to year 3 will have single year group curriculums. Years 4, 5 and 6 will continue to follow the mixed age group rolling programmes.
From September 2025, years 1 and 2 will have longer projects which will enable links to be made across subjects over a whole term. KS2 will continue to cover 3 smaller projects over each term.
The project overview for the 2025-26 academic year is shown below.
We are currently learning…
At the start of the Autumn term, our learning is focused around the following projects:
In Reception – ‘Me and my school’
In Y1 – ‘Childhood History’
In Y2 – ‘Movers and Shakers’
In Y3 – ‘Tribal Tales’
In Y4 – ”Burps, Bottoms and Bile’
In Y5/6 – ‘Stargazers’
Please see our parent information leaflets (below) for more information. The leaflets give a brief overview of our topic and some specific key facts and vocabulary that the children will be learning so you can discuss these at home. For KS2 projects, we have also included some suggestions for home learning to help prepare the children for the topic and / or consolidate their knowledge. Please do encourage your children to bring their home learning into school so that we can share it with the class and celebrate the children’s work.
