PE & Sports Premium
The PE and school sport funding is a legacy to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The aim is to improve sport and PE in schools through high-quality teaching and maximum pupil participation – leading to healthier pupils who are more engaged across the whole curriculum.
The PE funding – provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport – is allocated to primary school headteachers. From 2014 – 2017, the school received £8000 plus an extra £5 per pupil each year. During the academic year 2017-18, this funding was increased to £16,000 plus £10 per pupil. Schools must spend the funding to improve the quality of PE and sports activities they offer their pupils, but they are free to choose the best way of using the money.
