Year 6 London Camp

From 7th – 9th June, we took 27 of our wonderful year 6 children to London for their year 6 camp! We had the most amazing time: the children’s behaviour was impeccable and everyone had so much fun. We stayed at YHA St Pauls (which did fantastic breakfasts!) and went on some whistle-stop tours of central London. We managed to visit and see some incredible sights: The Natural History and Science Museums; the Gherkin, Shard and Walkie Talkie; Westminster Abbey; St Paul’s Cathedral; The Royal Mews; Buckingham Palace; the Tower of London; and, most amazingly, the Lion King at the Lyceum Theatre!

Here is what some of our children had to say:

Emily:

I really enjoyed the museums, the science museum was amazing because when you went into rooms, you got to touch everything and see how things worked. My favourite part of camp was going to the Tower of London because I’ve never seen the crown jewels before. It was amazing to see what crowns were shown on display.

Bea:

I liked how we were all together and we all had fun together! In the hostel, we loved being in our rooms, which were close together. The people in the hostel were nice to us and the food was delicious! The train was brilliant (much better than a coach) as we could play games and move around to sit with our friends.

Reade:

I enjoyed the Lion King the most! The walking that we did was fun but there was a lot of it so it was nice to have a break and watch something so fun! I also enjoyed going to see the crown jewels because it was very different to what we see where we live and they were very pretty.

Tabby:

In the Tower of London, we looked at the crown jewels and we could see it sparkling from all directions because of the diamonds and jewels on it. We got to see the chair that King Charles III was coronated on and sat on! The thing that I enjoyed the most was the Lion King; I loved it when people clapped along with the songs and the acting was brilliant, they didn’t get fazed by anything!

Lexi:

One of my favourite parts of London was walking around and seeing all of the skyscrapers like the Shard and the Walkie Talkie. I also loved seeing the Lion King because it was so lively and fun, it was full of joy and I couldn’t sleep afterwards!
